Now that winter is slowly coming to a halt, spring break and vacations are just around the corner! Flying in an airplane causes the skin to become extremely dehydrated, because airplane cabins have such low humidity. When flying dry skin becomes drier and believe it or not, oily skin gets even oilier. When skin has no water it over compensates for the lack of and actually produces more oil, the last thing oily skin needs! For dry skin with little to no oil glands, the skin will deplete of any moisture. So airplanes pretty much rob moisture directly from our skin, wreaking havoc. I will provide you with  some tips on how to care for your skin on an airplane.

Use a serum under your sunscreen.
You should load your skin up with as much hydration and protection as possible. Apply a serum under your SPF to help deliver moisture deep into the skin. Look for something with hyaluronic acid, As found in  Skin Ceuticals Hydrating B5 Gel

When we fly in an airplane, we are closer to the sun. Do you know what that means? We are closer to damaging UV rays. The windows on the airplane don’t filter out all of the damaging UV rays, So Even though you are not in direct sunlight, you’re still exposed to some of the harmful rays. Wear a Broad Spectrum SPF on the entire face and neck (Don’t forget about the ears). And ladies, foundations with SPF are not enough coverage. Try using Skin Ceuticals Physical Fusion 50. Choose the window seat, But not for the view!
Incidental exposure causes 78% off premature aging (incidental exposure is when you’re not intentionally trying to get sun exposure). UVA rays are responsible for the damage to the DNA cells and lead to premature wrinkles, age or brown spots, and visible signs of aging. When in an airplane you are 30,000 feet closer to the sun and its damaging rays. Choose a window seat so you can close the shade and protect your skin!


Does anyone else feel gross after getting off an airplane?
